“It’s not fair for all of our customers to pay for those customers who choose to pay by credit card.” So goes a common argument for charging a convenience fee for credit card payments. My counter to that arguments is that check and cash payments aren’t free to process, but the cost isn’t as obvious as a line on your bank statement every month indicating how much in credit card fees was deducted from your account.
